Kingdom Poster
Archaebacteria Group.
5 EXAMPLES: -Methanogens -Halophiles -Aeropyrum pernix -Sulfolobus tokodaii -Pyrolobus fumarii MAIN CHARACTERISTICS: -Obligate anaerobes - Microscopic - Prokaryotic - Have a cell wall but with no peptidoglycan - DNA unique to Archaea - Live in extreme environments *They are most prominent in extreme conditions, for example a hot spring. * *FUN FACTS* - They define the limits of life - They reproduce asexually |
Eubacteria Group.
5 EXAMPLES: -E. Coil -Yersinia pestis -Streptococcus Pneumoniae -Salmonella enterica MAIN CHARACTERISTICS: - Aerobes - Prokaryotes - Cell walls contain peptidoglycan - DNA unique to Eubacteria - Microscopic - Live in moderate environments *They are found pretty much anywhere on earth.* *FUN FACTS* -Most common organism on the planet - you eat eubacteria everyday |
Eukarya
Protista Kingdom.
5 Examples: -Amoeba Proteus -Euglena Gracilis -Paramecium Aurelia -Plasmodium Falciparum -Pediastrum Boryarum Main Characteristics: - Eukaryotic cells - Uni cell or colonial - Motile - Autotrophic and heterotrophic - Mostly asexual reproduction - “Catch-all” *Most are found in wet or moist areas* *FUN FACTS* Cilia - Some protists use microscopic hair called cilia to move. These tiny hairs can flap together to help the organism move through water or other liquid. Flagella - Other protists have a long tail called flagella. This tail can move back and forth helping to propel the organism. |
Fungi Kingdom.
5 Examples: - Rigdoporus Ulmarius - Sarcoscypha Coccinea - Saccharomyces Cerevisiase - Rhizopus Stolonifer - Amanita Rubescens Main Characteristics: -Eukaryotic cells - Non motile - Decomposers - Sexual and asexual reproduction - Spore formers - Uni colonial or multi cellular *Mostly found on the ground or on dead trees in forests.* *FUN FACTS* -It is estimated that there are over a million different species of fungi. - Fungi are big players of the carbon cycle |
Plantae Kingdom.
5 Examples: -Rosa Acicularis -Taraxacum Officinale -Acer Rubrum -Vaccinium Macrocarpon -Opuntia Pheacantha Main Characteristics: -Multicellular -Autotrophic -Mostly on land -Eukaryotic cells -Non motile -Asexual and sexual reproduction *They are pretty much found everywhere on earth.* *FUN FACTS* - The earth has more than 80,000 species of edible plants. -70,000 plant species are utilized for medicine. |
Animalia Kingdom.
5 Examples: -Panthera Tigris -Balaenoptera Musculus -Coccinella Septempunctata -Pterophyllum Altum - Varanus Komodoensis Main Characteristics: -Multicellular - Heterotrophic - Largest group is the Arthropods = 70% of all animals -Eukaryotic cells - Motile - Sexual and asexual reproduction *Found all over the earth* *FUN FACTS* -The word animal means having breath. It was derived from Latin language. -There are over 30,000 species of fish |
